This book is an informational book about lightening/weather. It would likely be used for intermediate grades based on the nature of the text and the vocabulary used. In this book, not only are the causes and effects of lightening explain, so are historic viewpoints and research about what lightening is. The book begins with historical assumptions and goes into technical and scientific aspect of how lightening occurs. The book includes foldout pictures of lightening and diagrams of how it works, and also includes vocabulary word definitions and tidbits of facts and other information that are interesting about lightening. The book also includes an "I was there" section every few pages, where people who have closely experience lightening share their stories. The book also explains how lightening has or can affect geographical land forms. This is a good example of informational because of the real-life pictures and factual information. It includes vocabulary definitions at the end, as well as a bibliography and index. This book could be used in a science unit studying natural disasters and natural history.
