The adventures continue with new villains, new obstacles, and the fate of the world hangs in the balance. Its up to May Bird to stop the lord of the underworld, Bo Cleevil, before its too late. Imaginative, intriguing, and a great cast of characters, the second installment of the May Bird series surpasses its predecessor in every way, adding new characters, moving the plot at a steady pace, and does its job as leading up the final book. May Bird Among The Stars will not disappoint in its execution, and is one of the better horror books for both young adults and children. The story continues from the first, as May finds her way closer to the center of Ever After, trying to find her one true way home. I wont go too much into this, as it would spoil much of the plot. But I will say you will become much more attached to the characters, including the new ones, and adds much needed development to May, as she witnesses many horrific things in the Ever After. Its story appeals to a younger audience, and its not like the other books I've reviewed, which are dark, gritty while also being witty. This book was made for young adults and childrenn, so expect cheesy moments in between. The atmosphere is dark, so don't expect the events and surroundings to be all light and fluffy. The Ever After is a wonderful and exotic place with spirits and monsters in the night surrounding May at every minuet. It likes to portray itself very well, even if there are some unanswered questions, the biggest one being how Ever After even got there in the first place, and how Bo Cleevil got to be the ruler. Though the story can stand on its own with its lovely cast of quirky characters. The second installment was no failure for this series, and continues the story very well, while adding more to it, making it better than the original. The ending is completely paramount, meaning go read the third book if you want to answer a lot of questions and to find out what truly happens to May. I still recommend this to teens and kids of all ages, and should not be missed. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

In this book May is trying to get home but everywhere she turns there are goblins and zombies that only know the word... euuuurrrrrhh. And lets not forget the evil Bogey who May must sneak past in order to get to the portal home.
Among the Stars shows May Bird as a much more courageous character, standing up for what she believes is right and defending her friends using a bow and arrow which seems to do nothing but flop to the floor before her targets. With the help of her cat Somber Kitty May travels far and wide and eventually to the Bogeys bedroom. And every step of the way is full of light hearted humour and little curiosities.
Overall this book is great, even Pumpkin (who in the first was stupidly annoying and whiny.) was an alright character in this. After finishing this book at work on my last break I couldn't wait to get home and begin Warrior Princess.
Now for the finale! ( )
