Good read about a greedy businessman trying to stop a brilliant doctor from bringing his vital medical research to the public.

People die; new relationships are forged and exciting progress is made.

A nice book. Interesting, with all those people wanting to kill each other. Some unexpected twists & turns but also a bit too much and incredible romance, still all in all I consider it a good book 'before bedtime'. ( )

Kate Denby a doctor of genetic research is an unwilling target for competitors who are willing to kill in order to stop the completion of a drug that will change the world. Noah Smith, of J and S Pharmaceuticals, approached Kate to go to work for him and refuses to take no for an answer. The opposition doesn't know or care that she's turned him down. When her ex-husband is killed in a car bombing right in front of her, not so soon after Noah's plant is blasted, she begins to suspect that something is wrong.

I really like the books by this author that are NOT the Eve Duncan series. These books have some very likable characters. This was a fantastic book. One that the reader will not be able to put down. ( )

The central character, in all of Iris Johansen's books, is a strong, smart, single, independent woman. Kate Denby is divorced, raising a son, with the help of her mother-in-law. Kate and her son face the threat of being killed by Raymond Ogden, who owns Ogden Pharmaceuticals, one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in the world. Noah Smith, a famous research scientist, has developed a new universal immune cocktail, he calls RU2. The drug will strengthen the cellular immune system enough to repel almost any attack. It is the ultimate cure for decease. Ogden Pharmaceuticals doesn't want it to come to market. It would cost them billions in lost revenue, for drugs, that would no longer be needed. Kate was pulled, in because Noah needs her, to provide the delivery system for the serum. Kate isolated a gene that keeps cells from rejecting. He believes Kate's work, on a foolproof plasmic delivery for medications that the cells will accept without throwing them into shock, makes RU2 a viable medication. Its a race to get the delivery system as close to 100% as possible and make it known to the world the drug is viable. Well written with suspense at every turn. ( )
