HACHIKO WAITS is set in pre-war Japan, about a dog's steadfast fidelity to his departed master, based on a true story. Leslea Newman's book was the basis for the film, HACHI, starring Richard Gere. Illustrations by Machiyo Kodaira add charm for young readers. This would be a great gift for young dog lovers. Highly recommended. - Tim Bazzett, author of the memoir, BOOKLOVER Hachi is accustomed to waiting for his master at the train station when he is due home. One day the master dies. Hachi continues to wait faithfully for him for the next ten years. This is a wonderful, heart warming and sad story, based on a true story. Unfortunately, there just isn't enough story for even a short book length novel. There is only material for a short article in a magazine really. Children's novel based on the true story of Japan's famous loyal dog Hachi who faithfully met his master's 3:00 train at Shibuya Station everyday even 10 years after Professor Ueno's death. The fictional boy Yasuo represents the many people who cared for Hachi until the dog's death of natural causes. The sense of place and Japanese culture is strongly portrayed. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
