This series has always been dark fantasy bordering on horror, but this entry was a lot darker than the previous books. I enjoyed following Grimalkin and learning a bit more about her. At first I thought this was just a filler book, and that everything that happened could have been summed up when Grimalkin met up with Tom again, but some characters that have been in the books died and I'm glad that they had on page deaths. I would have been annoyed if I found out about their deaths second hand.
I'm not entirely sure that this book was necessary though. While things certainly do happen, nothing that happens really effects the overall story. ( )

So next book I will read slithers tale. So What is the reason to write this books?( slithers And grimalkin) And i liked yourself spooks series. Really however did yok read this books. Q: why you decided to write book 9 and 11 in someone else's point of view than Tom?
A: I wanted Grimalkin to have her own adventure and I thought it would work best if it was told from her point of view. The same is also true of Slither. In each case I wanted to try something different but both books are very important to the full Wardstone Chronicles narrative

In this latest addition to the Last Apprentice series, the main character is Grimalkin: the famous and deadly witch assassin, who is carrying the head of the Fiend. His followers have spawned a creature of the dark whose sole job is to kill her so they can reunite the head with the body of the field. While Tom, Alice and the Spook are essentially absent, Delaney continues to develop the series using other characters. ( )
