This book was very cute and I loved the culturally specific retelling. The animals were called by their spanish names which was a nice detail. The story of Señorita Gordita offers some fun culture to this classic tale. The way the author uses the Spanish words for the names of the animals is a really fun way for children to learn Spanish. I think this book really promotes inclusion and diversity in cultural literature, offering a new perspective of a well known story. The illustrations are colorful and setting authentic to southern terrains. The book includes a Gordita recipe, the story makes you kind of hungry so it makes sense to include it. Summary: this picture book is basically a Hispanic version of the Gingerbread man. The Gordita must escape people and animals who are trying to eat her! Classroom use: I would use this book to create a mini unit about fables and how they've been retold in several different ways, in several different settings. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
