Winner of the 1999 Whitbread First Novel Award   'Beautiful and brilliant' Tony Parsons   Estate agent Frankie Blue is known on his home turf - White City, Shepherd's Bush - as 'Frank the Fib'. He's a liar - but one who always tries to tell the truth. Frankie has been friends with Diamond Tony, a hairdresser, Colin, a computer nerd, and Nodge, a cabbie, since schooldays.   Now they are thirty and trying to live the same life as they did then - drinking, girls, banter, football. Then comes Frankie's Great Betrayal - Veronica, and marriage, his ticket to a bigger, better grown-up world. From the moment he tells his mates, the whole patchwork of their friendships begins to collapse - revealing the sad, shocking but often hilarious truths that lie underneath. 'Caustically funny and sometimes very affecting ... with sardonic wit and a kind of tough tenderness, Lott portrays people growing up, growing apart or growing together' Sunday Times   'Mordantly funny ... Observations are vivid, the dialogue crisp and, crucially, the characters are sympathetic' Tatler… (meer)

OK Book. This about growing up and moving away from your mates.
The main character is called Frankie Blue who gets a girlfriend called Veronicaand thinks its time that he and his mates go their separate ways. They always meet up on August the 14th every year but this is the same day as Veronica's birthday. She doesnt want him to go he ends up going falls out with her and also falls out with his mates Colin, Tony and Nodge. Frankie becomes a loner decides to make up with his mates and also marries Veronica. Colin and Nodge go to the wedding but not Tony as he is a bully. This book will appeal to QPR fans. ( )

I remember buying this at an airport and reading it on a plane. I don't know which airport and have no recollection of the book's content.

Het enige wat te voorspellen was over hoe ik de vrouw zou ontmoeten die mijn leven veranderde, was dat het zou gebeuren terwijl ik haar iets probeerde te verkopen.
