In the net to last Alice boo, she and her gang all get a job on a fledgling cruise line. The job is hard - long hours with low pay, and it turns out neither the ship, nor the captain are quite all they should be. After several small scale disasters, they call come home a few weeks earlier than planned, and prepare to face the rest of their lives.
All in all, I did not enjoy the high school years as much as the middle school years. The middle school books were definitely funnier, and Alice herself a more engaging character as a middle schooler. She's still likable, but that's about it. I've read this far, I'll read the final book too. But what I would recommend to others is, read through the middle school years and then stop there.
(Of note: Unlike the last 10 or so books in the series, there was virtually no discussion of anything sexual.) ( )

I've found the last few books less engaging than the rest of the series, which is sad. Still looking forward to the last book, but I think I'm ready for the series to end.

Somehow I missed the twenty-third book in this series, but it doesn't matter. Alice has devolved into one of the most boring teenagers I've ever read about. She reads like a much older person. This book does little to advance her growth, or my interest in finishing the series. ( )

Why why why am I still reading this series oh god whyyyyyyy.

And yet this installment, though vapid, was less annoying than other volumes. Yay? ( )
