Set in the beautiful Northen English country sides during the civil war. In which Queen Isabella fights to depose her weak husband, King Edward II. Gervase de Lavel is caught up in the fighting; and after fleeing a battle, dragging along his wounded employer/friend and is black-mailed by Johanna's mother into posing as Johanna's long lost husband in order to get her a divorce. But Gervase had many secrets and needs to save himself and more inportantly his friend from the noose. Johanna, not happy with This story evolves around a medieval court case. In which, Johanna FitzHenry, tries to divorce her cruel husband that beats her often and rapes her continuosly. Johanna is not happy with her mothers choice of husband. And getting through this case will be difficult and very likely impossible. A really fantastic read that will take you back in time completly - I got in lots of trouble for not being able to put this book down. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
