But when a ghostly woman appears to her with a warning, Tara realizes it was more than chance that brought her to this island. Desperate to escape a dark and dangerous past, she struggles against a passionate attraction to handsome islander, Dominic O'Sullivan. This is just a fun lightweight book. It took me a few hours to finish, and was just what I needed after some recent heavier choices. The characters are comfy, the story well-paced and overall just a fun read. ( )

A wonderful telling of the Selkie legend. In the style of Nora Roberts, the author writes in something that is likely omniscient third person (lots of POV switches), but I didn't have any difficulty keeping up. I enjoyed the legend, I enjoyed the romance and the small community that banded together to help a stranger, who has distant ties to their island in her past.

I loved this trilogy! A modern day fairy tale that was believable and beautiful. I was so happy that the series is now in paperback so that I can share with others who will love it as well.

Ireland, Irish mythology and a great writer - doesn't get much better than this! ( )

I liked the setting, I loved the selkie legend, I liked the interactions and the pictures painted by the words. I found the tension created by the husband back in his personal dictatorship stunning and real. I found the steamy bits too steamy for my taste, but then I write childrens/MG books and maybe I'm just not used to that stuff! I was really irritated at the start by language choices totally out of keeping with the setting and characters, but these didn't continue through into the later book, and the pace of the tale enabled me to more or less forget them. But it made me feel the author didn't really know island Irish people - or what a remote west coast island would be like.
But it is a great tale, spun tight and wringing your heartstrings out along with the heroine's. Good work, Ms Moss. ( )

I was a bit skeptical that I would like a romantic fairy tale, but I was wrong. I was captivated from the first pages and was excited to keep reading. Moss does a wonderful job of making you feel like you're part of the small town in Ireland. Her characters feel real, and you fall in love with each of them. Dom has all the qualities you want in a hero, and Tara's story is very moving (Don't want to give too much away). The pacing was perfect, and I loved it so much I finished the book in a few days. The fairy tale/magical part of the story didn't seem silly or contrived, and really worked for me. I can't wait to read the next story in this line of books which says a lot about the development of the secondary characters. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a contemporary romance with a magical twist. ( )
