On a Hot Hot Day is a cute book that discusses the various seasons and how a little boy navigates them. The book covers all four seasons and how to properly dress and things to do to keep cool in the summer or warm in the winter. I thought it was cool that the author used some repetition in his book and left is up to the students to determine the seasons, encouraging their critical thinking skills. ( )

I liked the story On A Hot Hot Day because I would use this just like we did in class making it a total physical response activity. This is a great book to get your class engaged even if they don't really know what to wear during each season they can look at the book for clues or around at their classmates. This story shows many different things it teaches setting and weather. When looking at the setting of each page you can determine what you would wear in each season. Each season had descriptive words to give clues on what appropriate clothing would be for the season. The good thing about this is that what are students say they would wear in not what we are worried about we care more about getting them involved. The most important thing is getting our class involved. I would rate this a 4 out of 5 stars because it was good to involve the students while being straightforward and it also shows each of the seasons but I didn't find it very interesting personally. I gave this book a 5/5 because I really enjoyed it since it would be very beneficial and engaging for my future students. The book was able to capture all of the seasons which in return will teach students about weather, the setting, and clothes to wear during the season. Throughout the year, the mother and child would dress for the weather, the pictures and words explained the setting, and whats appropriate to wear during that time. When explaining summer the words says, "hot" often to explain that in the summer the weather is warm and sunny and you need to wear something appropriate. You can engage your students by asking them to stand up and pretend to put on what clothes they should wear for each season represented in the book. By the end you could have the students look outside and explain what season it is and what is appropriate to wear. ( )

I like this book because it can be used to engage your class while also teaching them about weather and setting. The book touched on all the seasons and the clothes the characters wore that were appropriate to the weather. Before reading about a season, you could ask your class if it is hot or cold outside, and what you would wear and do when the weather was like that. Another reason I enjoyed the book was because it was simple and straight to the point. The sentences were short but clear. This would be good to use in a kindergarten classroom because it can make it more engaging and fun to learn about the clothes to wear in each season.

I gave this book a 5/5 rating because in this book the mother of the main character describes what each season is like, and what clothing is appropriate to wear during the seasons. It's a great book to have in your classroom to help students learn about setting. It's a good way for students to relate with each other on the kinds of clothing they would wear, and what activities they can do during each season. ( )
