Tim Russert, of Meet the Press, tells the story of his life and how much he admires his father.

Enjoying this so much. I am reading it for Father's Day. Tim was just a few years older than me but growing up in Buffalo in 1950's is exactly as he portrays. It has brought back many memories, especially Crystal Beach. His Dad was like many of our dads. I am so glad he had the oppportunity to write abt him.The rat story had me laughing so hard, I have a friend that does the same thing!
If your dad was a WWII soldier and you have fond memories of your dad, this book will give you more insight into his generation. This book is proof of the importance of good father's and the influence they have on their children.Lovely read! ( )

Oh, I miss Tim Russert! I thought this book was to e about his father, it's mostly about Tim Russert. That's okay. It is also a poignant and wonderfully written love letter to his father, and to his son, Luke. ( )

Russert writes of his relationship with his father with humor, love, and deep respect. I enjoyed his memories.

A wise and moving book of memoirs by Tim Russert, the television journalist, about his childhood days and growing up learning the lessons of his father and others who have influenced his live and values. His father is the standout here; a man of "character, modest grace, and simple decency -- Russert's dad, Big Russ." I had never followed Tim Russert's career and only knew of him by reputation, but this book showed me two kind and decent men whom I would have considered it a privilege to know. Sadly, Big Russ and Tim Russert have both died. But it looks like they both left the world a better place for their having been here. That's the best that anyone can hope for. ( )
