Tess Menzies can work a spell with a few blinks of her baby blue eyes. But this dedicated witch can't summon up a single good reason she's been made an envoy between her kind and Manhattan's fiercest were-creatures. The two sides haven't spoken in four hundred years, and she'll need every miracle in the book to broker any kind of truce. And that means outwitting Council of Others leader Rafael De Santos, whose tantalizing moves and fierce hungry kisses are magic even a formidable sorceress can't resist . . .It doesn't take a cat's supernatural senses for Rafael to suspect that there's something strange about this unexpected peace offering. And finding the truth is just as tempting as uncovering the secrets Tess is trying to conceal. Why, she's tantalizing enough to make this wandering were-jaguar think he's found the perfect mate-one he's only dreamed of. But his stealth and her spells can't guarantee they have a chance at survival, much less a future together . . .… (meer)

Still mostly enjoying this fun series. This one seemed a little light in that really not much happened but them going to bed like bunnies a whole bunch. It was nicely written and the sex scenes were good but there wasn't much plot. The bad guy was lame and his story hardly developed at all. Also the heroine was a witch and her only power was an ability to see what was going to happen right before it does. This only allowed her to avoid stepping out in front of a bus for example. That's not magic it's psychic ability. Hmmm... ( )

I have read several of the books in this series, no overpowering need to read them in any particular order, and I became obsessed with finding the one which tells of this particular couple. Rafe is always portrayed as being very self possessed and amusedly calm regardless of the disaster at hand, while Tess is more ready to interfere in things and not at all intimidated by her impressive husband who heads the Council of Others.
This is a surprising tale with a lot of twists, shape shifting, spell casting, and erotica.
Very well worth the money, and the audio interpretation by Kate Reading is superb! ( )

Knowing she's always been a disappointment to her grandfather because of her lack of magical ability sadden her but the heroine was never one to dwell on the negative. Her lack of magical excellence hasn't stopped her from opening her own tea shop and living her life in general contentment. Then she's called upon by the council of witches and her grandfather to deliver a message to the Felix of Manhattan and for once the heroine feels needed. But that fateful encounter changes her whole world. Boggling the attempt to stalk her prey, the heroine is confronted by the hero and both disturbed and aroused when he turns the table on her. The hero is of a species not known for their fidelity and up until now he's played in the role of bad boy and loved every second of it. But then he meets the heroine. Smelling she's a witch, someone meant to be forbidden to him if not considered an enemy doesn't stop him from becoming instantly and intensely wrapped up in her. They flirt and they banter and they end of in bed together. Parting ways in the morning, the heroine is soon bombarded by the wives of his friends claiming that she is perfect for him, that she's meant for him but she's not interested in an affair. She thinks the hero could never be a one woman man but little does she know that her involvement with the Felix has not only sparked in him a possessive need to claim her as a mate but it's also broken an ancient curse where the Jaguar species was slowly dying off. All this comes rushing at the heroine and in addition to the stress of her mean and overbearing grandfather and attacks on her person make her wish she just stuck to the safety of her living room and her old classic movies. I liked this book but it was far from award winning or even remotely inspiring. It was a nice, easy mindless read but sometimes that's what I'm looking for. It had the feel of a cheap Harlequin romance and I was disappointed that the author chose to basically use a 'throw away' book on such a magnetic and charming hero. I was kind of hoping that Rafe's story would be a spark in an otherwise dull series and while I enjoyed it as I said, I still found it lacking. The heroine could be super annoying at the best of times and she was the carbon copy of every other heroine in this series but I thought she had moments of intelligence and passion. This was a decent book but don't expect too much out of it cause it's no thriller. ( )

Lots of steamy dominating sex. Not sure who is left for her to write about, so this could be the last in this series. Will have to wait and see. ( )

Not a bad story. We get to see how Rafe (head of the council of others and a werejagaur) and Tess (witch) come together. We've seen them together in other books (she is writing this series out of order. She explains why on her site. He is much more alpha and obsessive in this book than in other books where I've seen them together. Also Tess's grandfather is a complete and under d**k. ( )
