Features more discussion of Johnny Appleseed's faith story and evangelization than other retellings of this story. I thought this was a good, informational book. It was easy to understand, so I would imagine children would be able to understand it as well. I would use this book in my class to inform my students who Johnny Appleseed was and his significance to history. Johnny Appleseed was known for planting apple trees to make the world a better place. From this book, I could do many activities and it would give me a lot of information to tell my class. This book was about Johnny Chapman (Johnny Appleseed) he was born in Leominster, Massachusetts in 1774. When he turned twenty-three he had a dream to plant apple trees in the wilderness. He traveled far to plant his seeds to make apple trees grow. He respected all of the animals he encountered with on his travels. The children loved Johnny, and they are the ones who came up with his name. He was a very wise man and wanted to help others also. The Indians like him and he would help them. Johnny made the wilderness bloom with apple trees. I really enjoyed reading this book and learning about the Tale of Johnny Appleseed. I thought this story was put together nicely and the pictures were really cute. The tale of Johnny Appleseed is that he walked miles and miles spreading seeds of apple to plant the trees. Some people bought the seed from them, and those that could not afford them he would give it to them. We see how humbled he was as a traveler. Enjoyed this book, and I never really heard the tale of Johnny Appleseed, so reading this book was interesting. I would recommend this book for social studies teachers that are explaining the concepts of exploration. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
