2012 eleven years ago Secure upper middle class London in the (80s?) The group of long term servants/service employees, their relationships fascinated me. I think the author really enjoyed writing this book. An excellent title. Saint Zita - “She’s the patron saint of domestic servants and she gave her food and clothes to the poor. If you see a picture of her she’ll be holding a bag and a bunch of keys.” Page 4 An urban fox is on the cover, lovely railings, columns around the front door and whit painted sash windows.

Worth reading again
Class in 80s type London in an upper-middle class comfortable established Street. The ‘help’ meet at a local pub, they acknowledge each other. Their bosses families don’t visit this pub. Would they have felt uncomfortable if they saw the mingling in real life. Duplicate review by me 09:09:23
