In other words, it is a story and not a thinly disguised sex book. Emotions are plumbed without being maudlin. The essence of what I liked about this book is its depth. There is a depth to the development of the characters that is entertaining and oddly satisfying. There is a depth to the description of their relationships that is compelling and delightful.
