Liked that Mr. Green was specifically shown baking with Mrs. Green, so it's not just that she's his personal cook. In my opinion this book was great. The author did an awesome job at creating solid character’s that children can learn from and respect. Mr. Green is presented as a happy, go lucky alligator who loves cookies. The whole book he is presented with a smile on his face and the illustration really does a good job at presenting him so. The author doesn’t have to say it because the reaction and facial expression Mr. Green has for cookies and baking cookies is joyful. The organized plot really keeps the reader informed and never guessing. Mr. Green is put into a conflict when he sees not that says “these cookies are terr-ible”. He’s stuck wondering why these cookies would be terrible when Mrs. Green’s cookies are always amazing. The writing is clean and to the point. The words used are simple at times and challenging. The ingredients used in the cookies go from butterscotch to marshmallow. Mr. Green finally gets curious and decides to eat the cookies and nothing was wrong. This kept me guessing. Is Mr. Green going to get sick? Or what could have been in the cookies to make them bad in the first place? After all the time, Mr. Green wasted it was just a misunderstanding. The paper was folded and on the side was the words “these cookies are terrific! Incred-ble” The big idea is that there is normally more there than what meets the eye. The author pushes the children to not stop even when they see a bad sign but to keep going. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
