A boy who is obsessed with dragons gets an amazing opportunity to go to the Komodo Island to see the rare Komodo dragon. but there is a huge crowd and he can't see anything, so he goes exploring on his own and sees one out in the wild. This book teaches about geography and about the komodo dragon. ( ) “Komodo”, written and illustrated by Peter Sis is a great book for Indonesian children as a celebration of their country natural diversities, flora and fauna. The island of Komodo is located in East part of Indonesia. This book is like a gift for Indonesian children, as an appreciation of children’s favorite animal, Komodo Dragon. The illustrations are done in pen and ink. He uses watercolor paints to make the full-color art. Peter Sis beautifully captures a boy who loves dragons very much. His parents take him to Komodo island in Indonesia to see real Komodo Dragons. Once he gets in the island, the attraction of Komodo is far from what he imagines before. Then, it turns out he goes to the jungle and suddenly meets a dragon. Is true that the boy meets a dragon while he is walking in the jungle? Well, readers can tell, guess and think whether it is only the boy imagination or really meet a dragon. Younger children can easily read this double spread page book especially because the texts are simple, fun, and shorts. Information about Komodo Dragons is also depicted through the pictures as the part of the story. Peter Sis style in portraying characters in his book is absolutely amazing, and I truly love his books. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
