Scott Johnson, the author of Safe at Second, writes a nerve wracking story about Todd and his best friend Paulie. Todd is an extremely good baseball player. He is known by almost every college because he can throw an unhittable fastball. Todd was pitching in one of the first games of the season when one of the batters got a hold of his fastball. Without time to react, Todd was hit in the eye by the line drive off the batters bat. Todd was rushed to the emergency room where he and his family were told that his eye will need to be removed or it will make him go blind in both eyes. After Todd is out of the hospital, he is meet with depression and thoughts of suicide. With the help of Paulie, Todd is able to become positive and attempt to play baseball again. Todd and Paulie learned that no matter what happens, there are always ways to move on. The picture on the cover of this book is a picture of a pitcher mid pitch. The picture is very appropriate for the book because pitching is Todd’s favorite thing to do. Because the picture goes along with the book, it makes it very appealing. Also, the picture is appealing because it shows great posture that only an educated pitcher would use. This book is a great book that is fun to read. Everyone, even non-sports minded people, would find themselves caught in the mind blowing events that occur in this book. ( ) geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
