Quick & Dirty: Hot, hot story with non-stop action and a strong female character. You will not want to put down this book.

Opening Sentence: Living in hell sucked.

The Review:

Cynthia Eden certainly knows how to write some “hot, hot” books. Angel in Chains is the third novel in The Fallen series and finally gives Azrael his story and a lover. Although Az certainly isn’t my favorite character from this series so far, I felt he was kind of annoying in the first book and just a pain in the ass in the second. He did redeem himself. His love interest, Jade, is who made the book for me.

Azrael comes across Jade as she is about to be beaten and or kidnapped by a group of thugs. These thugs are shapeshifting panthers and are on orders from her ex-boyfriend to bring her back to him. Az is looking for a fight and has no problem jumping in. He saves her but he just can’t seem to let her go, there is something about her eyes and the fact that he wants to kiss her, have him deciding to protect her from her terrible boyfriend.

Az doesn’t realize that his is getting himself into more trouble than he should when he tangles with Brandt. There is more to this guy than it seems and he won’t go down easy. Brandt is crazy about Jade and very obsessed. He will do anything to get her back. He makes an excellent bad guy.

Jade has been on the run from her ex-boyfriend for many years. Every time she gets comfortable that she has gotten away from him, he finds her again and kills the men she settles down with. She has had enough and this time, it will end in his or her death. She doesn’t expect to come across Az in her time of need but she certainly has no problem using him for this strength.

Jade did drive me batty in the beginning. She taunts Az for his help, even though she doesn’t know what he is or how strong he is. She uses him but then decides that she doesn’t want to get him killed so tries to ditch him. Az doesn’t fall for it but Jade still goes between wanting to use him or having him leave. Ultimately, Jade was a strong character who knew she’d had enough and got tired of having her life dictated by a crazy psycho ex-boyfriend.

Az also has to deal with a world ending prophecy that ties into Jade. Several old characters return to make sure this prophecy doesn’t come to pass. Even trying to sabotage his relationship so he won’t go mad.

Angel in Chains is a dark and sexy book. The action is constant – stopping only for Az and Jade to have some fun - before moving on to more twists and turns. The ending took me by surprise. I totally should have seen that coming but I didn’t and it was great!

Overall, if you are a fan of dark, sexy paranormal reads then you really should check out this series. I would recommend reading it in order just to know all the back stories but it isn’t necessary. Az fills in enough hints to understand his story. Angel in Chains does set up the next book in the series, Avenging Angel, and I already cannot wait to see how Tanner and Marna’s story will play out.

Dreams sucked. When his stare returned to her face, Jade tried to smile. “Good thing dreams don’t come true, huh?”

“For angels, they do.”

Her smile fell away.

“We see when our charges will take their last breath. We know of the moment that we must take them with our touch.” He was holding her hand and stroking his fingers over the back of her knuckles. “I’ve taken thousands of lives. Never hesitated even once. Not like Keenan.”

ANGEL IN CHAINS by Cynthia Eden is an exciting Paranormal Romance set in New Orleans. #3 in "The Fallen" series,but can be read as a stand alone,with re-appearing characters. See,"Angel in Darkness",and "Angel Betrayed". Another amazing story by this author. Follow,Azrael,Angel of Death and Jade Pierce,on a journey of danger,and fate. Filled with danger,angels,shapeshifters,survival,passion,a powerful witch,the Angel of Death,evil forces,choices,a prophecy,and seduction. As usual Ms. Eden has written a story for the ages with powerful characters,and an intriguing plot. As "The Fallen" series continues,it just grows better and better with each new book. "Angel in Chains" is Azrael's story. The big question is rather Azrael can keep Jade from her ex boyfriend clutches and keep her safe without destroying himself in the process. Ms. Eden is a talented storyteller. Paranormal readers as well as romance readers will not be disappointed.A powerful,sexy,dark, paranormal with a few twists. If you have not read "The Fallen"series pick up a copy I would suggest you do, you will not be disappointed. Received for an honest review from the publisher.

Azrael had been the head honcho of the Angels of Death until he Fell. Now, he wants redemption so he can go back to the Heavens and not deal with all the pesky emotions that come with being a Fallen. When he comes across a human woman in a dark alley being surrounded by panther shifters he thinks he might have found his ticket home. Save her and be redeemed. However, things aren’t going the way Az expected.

Jade Pierce has been running from her psycho ex-boyfriend for years. He’s a panther shifter and he always ends up finding her. Staying ahead of him is wearing her down and she needs to find a way to kill him or she’ll never have peace. When the stranger steps into the alley and kicks the crap out of the panthers who wanted to take her back to Brandt, she thinks she might have finally found someone who could help her rid the Earth of Brandt forever. She decides to do whatever it takes to persuade the hot powerful stranger to help her, but with both using the other, attraction burning out of control and a prophecy foretelling of Az’s destruction of the world will they survive what is coming?

Another home run from Cynthia Eden. I loved Az’s story. I wasn’t sure how Az, who was a bit of a villain in the other two books, would make a great hero, but I shouldn’t have worried. How do you keep the most powerful Fallen from bringing about the world’s destruction? With an unlikely hero. I will say no more, but one character that I found intriguing, but didn’t particularly like, might just have changed my opinion of him. Maybe. Possibly. We’ll just have to see.

Well-written, fast action, great plot, twists & turns, excellent characters, nasty psychotic villain, steamy sex and an ending I didn’t see coming made for an awesome read. I’m in for the next book 'Avenging Angel' due out May 28th.

Azrael is a fallen Angel of Death and he is looking for a way to redeem himself. He happens upon a woman named Jade who is cornered by some shifters in an alley. Thinking that if he saved her he will be forgiven and earn his wings back.

Jade is not a week woman. She is on the run from her ex boyfriend who is a crazy shifter and is after her. He has already killed her family and is consumed with making Jade his mate. First he must punish her for leaving him.

Azrael is confident that he can defeat the shifter but is he strong enough to keep Jade away from Bastion the new Angel of Death.

Angel in Chains in the third in The Fallen series and can be read as a standalone. I do feel you would enjoy this book a little more if you read the first two books first. Not only are they both enjoyable, they give you some interesting insight into who Azrael is. I have to admit I did not like him very much in those books so it really surprised me how much I was drawn into his and Jade’s story. This is a wonderful series and I hope Ms. Eden continues writing more books for it. ( )
