The Black Lagoon books are filled with silly events that make my 6-year-old son belly laugh. (I have to admit that I don't always find them quite so funny.) In this one, it's time for the school talent show. Other kids come up with great talents (squirting milk out their noses, for example), but our main character doesn't know what to do. Will he take his mother's boring suggestion or come up with a talent worthy of a talent show in the Black Lagoon? geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

Our hero of the story has to prepare for a talent show at school. Of course this in and of itself is traumatic and a challenge for him to overcome. One of the negatives of this book (and it is very minor) is that it is formulaic. Just as in other Black Lagoon series I have read, our hero is presented with a problem. He frets about it because he doesn't have ideas at first. He describes what his friends are doing....In a very comical way I might add. And then describes what he is doing. Then he describes how it actually goes and what actually happens. Which, as one can imagine, is nothing like how he envisions it.
The other small negative I have about this book is that the Author does not give you are hero's name. Again, this is a small complaint I have, but it goes to show that if a new reader to the series, like myself, comes along then this is a part of the story that they would be missing, unless they become a fan of the series. I think the author should individualize each book and treat it as if it was the first one each reader would pick up.
Overall, this was a very good and entertaining book. It had me laughing throughout and I feel that the young reader would get into it. ( )
