This is NOT related to the Aesop’s Fable of the same name although it is listed as a retelling of the traditional fable. An enjoyable picture book story, nevertheless. It has rich, vibrant colors in the illustrations. ( ) I liked this book for three reasons. I simply loved the illustrations and the pictures used in this book. The illustrations definitely make the book stand out and makes the children want to read it. In addition the pictures are very colorful and you can understand what the story is about without even reading the words. Secondly the plot of this book is really well done. I like how the author took a traditional story and turns it into a fun story for the children to read. I like how the book has a different ending and the grasshopper and the ant work together and have a good time singing and dancing. The main idea of this book is to learn about friendship and how a good friend like the Grasshopper is there to cheer the day of the ant with some music. Definitely a different happy ending to a traditional story. PSC Review: You can feel the rhythm of that New Orleans jazz in this new rendition of a classic story. The overburdened ant’s heavy load is made lighter with the help of some musicians who play for her as she heads back to her anthill. Kids will understand that “all work and no play make Jack a dull boy” in this lively colorful story. The descriptive language includes the “boulevard of backyards” the ant “persevered” through. When the ants are invited underground their bright colors help “Laissez les bon temps rouler!” Perfect for any time of the year, but a wonderful story I plan to share and brighten the Northwest dull winter skies. I can see working with the music teacher. It would make a perfect reader’s theater! geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
In this version of the classic fable, a weary ant is energized by the swinging sounds of a grasshopper and his "buggy" band. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
