This is a simple play, not quite melodrama, but in the tradition of the melodrama with villains set against women in the backdrop of an elite school for girls. The girls themselves are the most interesting characters, as we see the interplay between snobs and girls who have to work to pay their way, and also the dynamic of a western TV idol who happens to be in town and pays a visit to the school, much to the consternation of the proud headmistress. Set against these actions are the two hapless robbers trying to rob the safe who are mistaken for a Harvard professor and a recently hired stable hand that are both expected to arrive. It definitely departs from the melodrama mode in that there are no totally wicked villains, but instead two likeable crooks who have to struggle with the fact that they are robbing a girls school and a school that is on the verge of bankruptcy. Overall, a weak script, but one which would be well played at a high school because it has a lot of roles for young women of that age. As a one act, it is a quick read.
