David has a gritty style to his writing that is rather unique. His solid prose will immerse the reader into his characters trials. At times a reader can feel the pitching of the ships deck, or scuffing of their feet on a dry dusty path. You will become invested in the characters. But be forewarned, you may have difficulty deciding just who to root for. There were a couple of strong female characters that I thought were a refreshing touch. I read this book as part of the Goddess Fish Virtual Blog Tour, and was supplied with a PDF. Take my advice, buy the book, It is a real challenge getting through a lengthy novel looking at a computer screen.
