This story was very factual and gave great illustrations and pictures. It was interesting to see the process the monument went through before being completed. I enjoyed reading about how the sculptor's son was allowed to continue his father's work on the monument after his death. It was also interesting to learn that the sculpting work on the monument was never really completed due to World War II.
In the classroom, I would explain the process behind creating this monument and the sculptor's sacrifice to give students a deeper appreciation of it. I would also give students clay or play dough and allow them the opportunity to recreate the monument.
