Fiction. Romance. LGBTQIA+ (Fiction.) HTML:

Love doesn't always happen overnight; sometimes it takes a month of Sundays.

Conservative accountant Rachel Bauer is recovering from the abrupt end of a long-term relationship when she's tossed into the dating pool against her will. Expecting to meet friends for drinks, she finds herself in the middle of a blind date with Griffin Sutton, the sexy celebrity chef with a reputation for being easy on the eyes but hard on the heart. Rachel isn't interested in becoming the latest notch on Griffin's well-worn bedpost so she rebuffs her advances. Griffin, who hasn't met a woman she couldn't seduce, decides the best way to Rachel's reluctant heart is through her stomach. She offers to take her on a culinary trip around the world one Sunday at a time.

If Rachel accepts Griffin's proposition, will she find more than a good meal?

Part of this book I really liked, and the other I didn't like quite as much.

It's the love story of Rachel and Griffin. One of the most pure romance romance books that I've read in a while. Not also Sci Fi or Medical Thriller or some other crossover. And I liked that about the book.

Rachel and Griffin are pretty much as different as possible. Rachel's an accountant, Griffin a famous chef. Rachel is more introverted, Griffin a definite extrovert. And yet Rachel's friends Jane and Coleen spring Griffin on her as a blind date and from there it's the mostly usual lesbian romance book back and forth with a lot of interesting and different food as well. To try to connect with Rachel Griffin suggest that they go out for a month of Sundays (30 in this case, and it's Sunday because that's Griffin's day off). I will say that I really liked the Japanese meal - and I didn't see that part of the book coming, at least not exactly).

I liked most of the characters, but until the very end I just felt like I couldn't connect with the character of Griffin. On the other side of the coin though was Rachel. Her character felt so real as I read the novel. I can't pinpoint the exact reason why, but it felt like Rachel could step off the page and sit down next to me at any moment, it was awesome.

It was a fun romance with some things I saw coming and other things I didn't. Solid three stars. ( )
