I had to read parts of it aloud to my husband, who is in his 50s and normally reads thrillers - he laughed, too. I mean, start with the names - a Jew and an Innuit? The vibrancy of the illustrations - who knew the Arctic could be seen as colorful? Well, according to the bio on the back flap, Jill Pinkwater is confident her art is appropriate. And I agree. Oh, and the happy ending is perfect. It almost has the vibe of Where the Wild Things Are - even the most naughty childlike being is still cared for and offered compassion & support. Now I see that there are more Irving & Muktuk stories. Hmm. This one did have such a nice ending I'm not sure I want to read more. I'll have to think about it.... Daniel Pinkwater's book, Irving and Muktuk Two Bad Bears, was an enjoyable book. The two polar bears, attend the Yellowtooth Blueberry Muffin Festival every year in an attempt to try and steal muffins. They come up with so many goofy ways to disguise themselves and never have any luck. At the end of the story they end up in a place that these two bears will definitely enjoy. A fun book for the whole family to read. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
