They maintain hostilities, until an orange and blue bird is born and they realize that they both like the bird. I like this book because the bird makes them realize that they are not that different, and make peace to live happily beside one another. While all of the characters have white skin, this book speaks to tolerance and the idea that color is not that important. After reading the editor's note I had to check this book out. I brought it home and people who have stopped bu to visit are instantly drawn to it. It might be because the cover is uniquely designed with two holes cut out or it's really modern look, The illustrations made me feel like I was watching the Mr. Waterloo & Mr. Trafalgar play out their silly battle. This is a great book to begin a dialogue with children on how to make peace. The choice of making this story two toned let the reader focus on the message of making peace. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
