This was an interesting technique of storytelling because every chapter was just a few moments in a specific year, so the entire book spanned twenty years in twenty one chapters. Caleb and Andrew became best friends at 14 and lovers at 18 which continued through the years (when they weren't otherwise partnered), and it was a fascinating journey. I didn't feel as though I learned as much about Caleb as I did about Andrew (except for Caleb's internal fatphobia which was off-putting), but maybe it was Andrew who had to grow more to understand their relationship better. I'm six books into this series (since I read the last one first), and I can't figure out where Emile City is supposed to be; I thought it was Northern California but now am not sure at all. ( ) My rating is a low 3 or a little under 3 stars. I enjoyed the parts of them growing up together and being young adults most. They were so sweet and open with each other. I wasn't as crazy about the part after they were fully grown. The guys and their behaviors/attitudes weren't as appealing for me then. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
