This book covers about the life of P.Cezanne. The book not only gives you his life, but also painting techniques. Cezanne painted a lot in the early years with a palette knife, instead with a paintbrush. As a class activity, students can paint with the handle part of a plastic knife. I would do this activity though with children 7 years or older. I would also cut the ridged edges of the plastic utensil. ( )

This book was difficult to read. The design of the pages chopped up the text so much that it was confusing. There are many images of Cezanne's work throughout the book, but they are all very small which does not allow for the beauty of his works to show through. There are also little breakout sections about art technique that were a nice addition to the overview of Cezanne's life. The concept of the book is quite good as there is a lot of introductory information to be found within, but the execution of the layout and the organization make reading the book more difficult than necessary. While it is relatively informative, the organization of the book while basically chronological didn't have very much of a flow. This book is part of a series on Famous Artists, but this book does not make me want to browse other titles in the series. T ( )

I didn’t care for the layout of this biography/biography series. I found it distracting and disjointed. Each section of the book began with a brief look at Cezanne’s life and would then switch to a look at his style as an artist and work at this time. Each section also included a box encouraging readers to try different art techniques used by Cezanne. Many beautiful pictures were included to illustrate where Cezanne lived and examples of his work. The information provided was not well detailed or comprehensive. The timeline of Cezanne’s life presents a good summary of the book’s information about Cezanne’s life. ( )
