One of my favorite things about reading is the ability to "travel" to someplace I've never been, like Hawaii. I enjoyed the setting and the way Hornsby incorporated her vision of the culture into the story. I'm not sure how I feel about dream jumping. (Inception confused the you-know-what out of me. But then it doesn't take much!) I think Hornsby handled it well, allowing people like me to enjoy the story without getting too bogged down in questioning HOW THE HECK CAN THAT HAPPEN? :-) Nice job. I enjoyed straddling the line between waking reality and the fluid muzziness of Hornsby's dream world. Her knowledge of both Maui culture and the tourism trade grounds the supernatural story elements into a believable, intriguing plot. The story is woven together well and the characters are relatable, leaving the otherworldly details solid contributors to a seamless read.

I'm not a fan of heavy mystery, and the puzzling elements of this book were just enough to keep me engaged without feeling overwhelmed. I am a lifelong lucid dreamer, and I celebrate Hornsby's ability to relate the skill and experience through such realistic sensations and perceptions. She's an author to follow. ( )
