This book is an introduction to 48 of Israel's birds. A unique aspect of this book is it is written in both Hebrew and English. The two "front" covers display a different bird with the title of the book written in each language.
The 48 species are nicely illustrated in large plates which can be regarded more as artwork. Half of the 30 plates are in color.
The text, English in the left column and Hebrew in the right, gives the reader a general overview of the bird’s life, sometimes written from the personal, first-person, perspective of the author. The voice, behavior, and habitat of the bird are typically addressed in a format where the author is trying to narrate to the reader.
This is a quaint book that is reflective of its time with general information written in a style that one might mark down in a personal diary.
