In this book, Clifford becomes a movie star and moves away to make movies. After a while of living with a big house, fancy food, shiny things, and a pretty pool he wants to go home. He realizes that there is no place he would rather be than with Emily Elizabeth. So he returns home and is happy again. Clifford is a beloved favorite of many children. He is funny, sweet, kind, and a friend to all. Children love the illustrations and simple stories. Many of these books do teach valuable lessons about friendship as well. I would use this book to read to my students in hopes that they would check out more of this series from the library. There are so many Clifford books for all ages. Every classroom library should have at least one Clifford book. This review is for the children's book Clifford Goes to Hollywood by Norman Bridwell. The one thing I learned from this book is that Clifford the Big Red Dog has been around since the early 1960s. That absolutely blew my mind. So Clifford had already been around for TWENTY years when this book was published. Crazy, right? I also learned that this book was later (2010) reprinted as Clifford is a Star. This book was really cute but not really all that educational. But that's okay because I mean it's Clifford. Who doesn't love Clifford? I wondered why his owner (Emily Elizabeth; unnamed in this book) didn't go with him to Hollywood. I would have wanted to go with him if he were my dog. It's hard not to miss a gigantic red dog. I definitely recommend this book. I love Clifford the Big Red Dog. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

Now Clifford has a doghouse fit for a star, dog collars made of gold and diamonds, a bone-shaped swimming pool, and many fans. But Clifford is not happy. What will make Clifford the Big Red Dog happy again?
Young readers in the primary grades . . . first and second graders, ages six and seven . . . are the target audience for Clifford’s adventures with Emily Elizabeth.
But this story is elevated to something more with its wise message for all children. Clifford learns that things, no matter how bright or numerous or expensive, cannot take the place of family and love.
Highly recommended. ( )
