In this story, Amelia Bedelia is on a hiking field trip with her teacher and classmates. This was a very cute story with some great elements included for early readers. For example, Amelia learns how to correctly say "leaves" instead of "leafs". When the teacher tells the class they will have lunch by the stream bank, Amelia then imagines a bank building and an ATM. Also, when the teacher addresses a student named "Wade", Amelia decides to go wade in the stream. I liked how this book shows early readers that a word can have more than one meaning and that the context is important in determining meaning. This would be a very good choice for a beginner.
