( ) Personally, I think that all the Hairy Maclary books are adorable, both in the story and illustrations and this one is no exception. The characters are believable and children can easily relate to the feelings of laziness and hyperactivity. There isn't really any lesson to be learned, but it fulfills it's purpose of being a wonderfully entertaining read. From RoanFoal's dad: This was one of Ronan's absolute favorite books between about 7 months and a year. The first 'word' he said after dada & mama was quack (sounded more like dack). It is also the parents' favorite of the Lynley Dodd Hairy Maclary books, and we love the whole series. It is poetic, uses interesting words that you don't normally find in childrens' books (which we like), and has compelling illustrations. The story will likely resonate with kids of reading age with its theme of the little nuisance (Zachary Quack) who becomes appreciated by the older, aloof target of Zachary's attention (Hairy). And it is hard not to like Zachary Quack. It has been eclipsed in the last few months (12th-15th) by some newer Hairy Maclary & pals books as Ronan's most requested, but it is still a gem of a book. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
