I loved Breakfast at Tiffany's, which was so different from the movie, but I'm not nearly as fond of the other novella included here: Other Voices, Other Rooms. Breakfast at Tiffany's, which tells the tale of a glamorous woman in New York City and her unlikely friendship with the narrator, is a captivating piece and romantic in its own way. Other Voices, Other Rooms is a coming of age story that one suspects is drawn from the author's past. While it sets a rich atmosphere, I struggled to get through this story and couldn't really relate to the characters. ( ) geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
Onderscheidingen
The hillbilly-turned-Manhattanite at the center of Breakfast at Tiffany's shares not only the author's philosophy of freedom but also his fears and anxieties. Other Voices, Other Rooms begins as thirteen-year-old Joel Knox, after losing his mother, is sent from New Orleans to rural Alabama to live with his estranged father--who is nowhere to be found.
