I received this book from a LibraryThing member giveaway, and found it a very quick and pleasant read. I did not give it 5 stars, because it had a "science fiction" air to it and I am not a fan of such books. This was very well-written, tho, with a good story of an RN who returned to her home of many years, with lots of twists in store. Deze bespreking was geschreven voorLibraryThing lid Weggevers. This is a science fiction romance. Emma is a ER nurse and teacher. Five years after her parents' death she moves back to the mountain ranch where she grew up to get it ready for sale. However, once there with the animals and garden she finds herself questioning her decision to return to the city. While she is still coming to terms with how she wants to live her life, she finds a wounded man on the mountain. Her friend, the local shaman, calls him "star brother", and his amethyst eyes and unworldly manner soon lead her to understand this is no ordinary man. There was much to like about this novel. The descriptions of Emma's life on the ranch in the mountains were lovely. I appreciated the way the relationship between Emma and Dthau Mahsz grew slowly and naturally, without them falling into love at first sight and rushing into bed, as often seems to happen with romantic fantasies. While I understand that Emma's journey was, in large part, her learning to live fully in the moment and to trust her instincts, I found her character too passive. She was too accepting of Dthau Mahsz secretiveness and made few choices for herself. I prefer a stronger female protagonist. The novel was well written and the characters and setting were fully described. No content inappropriate for younger readers. Deze bespreking was geschreven voorLibraryThing lid Weggevers. This is a very well-written book with engaging characters and a beautiful story. I shed a few tears over it.Emma leaves the city and moves back to her mountain home after losing her parents. She is strong and capable of caring for herself but it is a lonely existence out on the farm. She happens across a trauma victim and takes him home to nurse him. Thomas is like a man out of a dream and they fall in love. But when he reveals how far away his home is, that love is tested as Emma must decide whether she can leave behind all she has ever known and adapt to a completely alien culture. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
As an ER nurse, Emma knows life can change in the blink of an eye. When fate comes knocking, she finds herself far away from the city and back on the mountain ranch where she grew up -with the intention to close up and sell the house so she can move on. But fate isn't done with her yet, and that's when she finds him, the one Two-Feathers calls 'Star Brother'. Wounded and unconscious, Emma assumes he's a military test pilot, until he opens his amethyst eyes and stares into the very essence of her being. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |

Another fast paced but fulfilling story front Mrs. Brown. This was a wonderful story, with great characters. The author doors a great job with filling the book with many elements but not making the reader feel overloaded. This emerging writer has the perfect formula. Can't wait to read more from her. ( )
