Even though Dex isn't my fav character in the world, I do appreciate getting these looks into his mind. Makes me like him more. Sometimes the way Perry sees things feels skewed, but most of the time Dex is actually being a major ass. We knew he had changed a lot before last book, and seeing that metamorphosis was interesting. Can't wait for the next full-length book in this series! ( ) 3.5 stars. Dex is hilarious and delicious as always, but I did get a little bored with the recount of what happened in [b:On Demon Wings|13442031|On Demon Wings (Experiment in Terror, #5)|Karina Halle|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1331704748s/13442031.jpg|18949847]. I wish it had been only about the time he was away from Perry, before the events of On Demon Wings. For more of my reviews, visit my blog: And this is the end, for now. Now comes the book hangover, that feeling of what do I read next, no more Dex and Perry til June! I really enjoy reading from Dex's POV, seeing what was going through his head at those critical moments. My only complaint here was I'm pretty sure one of these scenes was maybe in dex files (or I had a major case of deja vu when Dex and Rebecca met for drinks), and one was just a rehash of a scene in On Demon's Wings, without a lot added to it, so I felt it kinda could have been left out. But all in all, I really liked this one when I was afraid I wouldn't, and now I'm ready to hit New Orleans! Too bad I can't get there til June! I've said in the past, several times actually, that I am not usually a fan of short stories or novellas. There is an exception to that rule, however. There is a short list of authors who have bamboozled me with this little trick. And I say bamboozled in the most complimentary way. When an author writes a novella in a different point of view, the point of view of a character I love, I can't help but want to read it. The Experiment in Terror series is told from Perry's point of view so without these lovely little nuggets of perverted filled joy we would never truly know all the sick, sick shit Dex thinks up. Or all the sugary sweetness he has inside but rarely lets show, as the case may be. "I love her, more than anyone should love anything. The kind of love that either fills you up or eats away at you. I lover her at my own risk. I lover her...dangerously." And With Madness Comes the Light takes place simultaneously with On Demon Wings there isn't the need for any type of breakdown or buildup; it jumps right in to the story. We meet up with Dex in his sullen stupor after Perry walks out on him, we follow him through his depression, learn what it took to get him out of it and how exactly he ended up back in Perry's life. Dex being pretty tight-lipped and reserved, up to this point in the series, is usually so mysterious. All of that flies out the window with this novella. There is a hefty bag filled of soul bearing and a tenderness that brought me to the verge of tears. Who knew Dex had that in him? Okay, a lot of us did but I'm not sure many of us were convinced we would ever really get to see him quite so raw. I fell more in love with Dex, Experiment in Terror and Karina Halle after reading And With Madness Comes the Light. Honestly, I would read anything this woman writes. No one else creates characters as complex, multi-layered, intriguing, funny and loveable as she does. Dex is one of my all time favorite characters and I think it is a title he will hold for a very, very long time. I thoroughly enjoyed getting another glimpse into his world. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
