Loved the book, and the only reason it doesn't get 5/5 is that it is split into 3 different narrators. This meant that every time there was a cliffhanger you had to read 2 other chapters before finally finding out what happened. With some books this is a good technique, but I've never had any trouble getting through any of the Iron Druid books so it was more an annoyance! Deze bespreking is geschreven voor LibraryThing Vroege Recensenten. Great story!I've read many of his other stories and loved 'em all. I liked this book far more than the others, I enjoy the ones where you get to have free time with the characters you have been following and you finally get to see how the secondary characters view their role in the story, for that I really like this book, it feels fresh to the series and I think it was quite a breather in the story based on its past books. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

HTML:NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Acclaimed author Kevin Hearne makes his hardcover debut with the new novel in his epic urban fantasy series starring the unforgettable Atticus O’Sullivan. For nearly two thousand years, only one Druid has walked the Earth—Atticus O’Sullivan, the Iron Druid, whose sharp wit and sharp sword have kept him alive as he’s been pursued by a pantheon of hostile deities. Now he’s got company. Atticus’s apprentice Granuaile is at last a full Druid herself. What’s more, Atticus has defrosted an archdruid long ago frozen in time, a father figure (of sorts) who now goes by the modern equivalent of his old Irish name: Owen Kennedy. And Owen has some catching up to do. Atticus takes pleasure in the role reversal, as the student is now the teacher. Between busting Atticus’s chops and trying to fathom a cell phone, Owen must also learn English. For Atticus, the jury’s still out on whether the wily old coot will be an asset in the epic battle with Norse god Loki—or merely a pain in the arse. But Atticus isn’t the only one with daddy issues. Granuaile faces a great challenge: to exorcise a sorcerer’s spirit that is possessing her father in India. Even with the help of the witch Laksha, Granuaile may be facing a crushing defeat. As the trio of Druids deals with pestilence-spreading demons, bacon-loving yeti, fierce flying foxes, and frenzied Fae, they’re hoping that this time, three’s a charm. Don’t miss any of Kevin Hearne’s phenomenal Iron Druid Chronicles novels: HOUNDED | HEXED | HAMMERED | TRICKED | TRAPPED | HUNTED | SHATTERED | STAKED Praise for Shattered “Funny, razor-sharp . . . Plenty of action, humor, and mythology keep this book fun and interesting.”—Booklist (starred review) “Uproariously entertaining in a way that Hearne is uniquely able to achieve . . . Neil Gaiman’s American Gods meets Jim Butcher’s Harry Dresden.”—SFFWorld “Celtic mythology and an ancient Druid with modern attitude mix it up in the Arizona desert in this witty new fantasy series.”—Kelly Meding, author of Tempest “[Atticus is] a strong modern hero with a long history and the wit to survive in the twenty-first century. . . . A snappy narrative voice.”—Library Journal, on Hounded “Outrageously fun.”—The Plain Dealer, on Hounded “Superb . . . plenty of quips and zap-pow-bang fighting.”—Publishers Weekly (starred review), on Hounded. Anyone who follows me knows how much I loathe cliffhangers. They're a trick and a cheat. You should trust your story and talent to bring readers back, not this shite! Take a look at Seanan McGuire and Ilona Andrews--that's how you write a long running series and finish each book.
I'm done with the Iron Druid series until it gets an ending.....the cliffhanger totally soured my whole experience of the book.
