You wouldn’t want to sail with Christopher Columbus

He was different from his other friends. Some kids in Spain wanted to be carpenters. Not Columbus. He tried to make a trade route with Asia. Little did he know he wouldn’t get there. He didn’t know about America.
It seems to me, there is no moral in this story. However, I did like it. It gives you a different point of view. I think the illustration needs work. I should have it before. That does not matter.

In my opinion, “You Wouldn’t Want to Sail With Christopher Columbus!: Uncharted Water You’d Rather not Cross” by Fiona Macdonald is a great book to read with students. The book is told in the second person point of view, which allows readers to feel like the main character. “You are a bright young lad, but your parents are poor.” The plot is also organized and goes in chronological order. The book starts when Christopher Columbus is only ten years old and ends with his last voyage in 1504, this shows the clear order of the story. Last, the writing is engaging, although the story is informational and has the potential to bore readers, the author makes the story humorous. “Iguana: These green, meaty lizards are best roasted. Are you hungry enough to eat one?” The big idea of this story is for students to understand Christopher Columbus’ life and voyages. ( )

This book is interesting because it provides a child friendly opposing point of view. A unique way to expand on the topics of subjective and objective opinions.
