( ) Not as much of a fan of this one as I was the first two. While we don't have the whole "female is so unique the male falls for her only because of that" thing", we do have a relationship that evolves unbelievably fast. I think it was around 5 days from "hello" to "omgilovehim/her" which was interesting considering for the last two books Audrey has been built up as this very staid, serious person. She throws it away with pretty much no fuss when Reese coming knocking. Meanwhile, she basically seems to ignore Daphne who is the whole reason she is in this cabin to begin with. I get her not being around Cade as much, but she really doesn't seem to care much for Daphne. It was stated a few times that Audrey was tired of always running to the rescue and seeing her sister do the same destructive things all over again, but never strongly enough that made her not taking care of her sister viable. I don't know. Not much rang true in the story. Except for Cade and Daphne. Too bad I don't really want to read a story about a junkie and a do-gooder getting together. Blah. The light at the end of the tunnel was Reese who was adorable to read. Definitely had more personality than the other guys so far, and it was appreciated since the rest of the story was just... weird. Alright, peeps. I've read the previous two books in this series on a whim and really enjoyed both. They are light, sexy, and the men and women in both are quite feisty and entertaining. It might be just me, but I couldn't connect with Reese and Audrey. I didn't feel like there was enough emotional struggle and conflict, and I also didn't like how quickly Audrey's resentment of Reese turned into a full on love. During the last two novels she presented herself like such a strong, independent, even steely lady, and I wanted Reese to try really hard to get her. I wanted him to change, to become worthy of her. Instead there was a lot of complacency on both ends, and it felt washed out. The last thing that was bothering me? Audrey didn't look like she understood the dangers of drug withdrawal without medical assistance. She was just shrugging off her twin - Daphne's struggles, and I don't know what would have happened to Daphne if not for Cade. It's been an okay read, but second book is still my favorite. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
