The Shadows of Justice was quite suspenseful. I did feel that it was a bit long and sometimes overly detailed. I was given the ebook version which may have contributed to the feeling of such a long book. The book itself was very good. It was written from the perspective of a reporter during a kidnapping/murder investigation. If you like long-winded stories written by a reporter this is the book for you. It was written well, and I would probably check out other works written by the same author. ( )

I found The Shadows of Justice is a book that I found hard to put down. The tone in the beginning was suspenseful, and I found myself reading "just one more chapter". I probably would have finished it much sooner if it had been a paper copy, but I won this from Library Thing's Early Reviewers as an Ebook. I have never read this author before, but will now check out his other books. 3 stars, very enjoyable. ( )

The concept of this book sounded interesting, and in fact, the book started out well. The courtroom setting, waiting for the verdict, grabbed my interest but then it went downhill from there.

For some reason it just couldn't hold my interest. I found myself skimming over sections, especially sections that didn't seem important to the plot.

I'm sure there are people out there who will love it, but for me, it wasn't my cup of tea. ( )

A brother and sister brought to trial for kidnapping only to be found not guilty. The pair are subsequently murdered. Many suspects are investigated in the following pages until finally the case is solved. But is it really?

The premise of this book sounded great, and it was. Is justice ever really served? Is vengeance sometimes the only way? Can you fault those who exact revenge?

I was so looking forward to a book I couldn't put down. At first, I thought I might get that. The description of the court room as the jury entered helped build tension that I hoped would carry throughout the story. But from there the book fell apart. One of the most glaring mistakes is when our main character Dan is sitting on a rise, looking out over the water. While I got a good visual of the area, the image of the moon rising in the west really put me into a tizzy. I still can not get that out of my head. (as far as I know, the moon always rises in the east)

I found my self skimming most of the descriptive paragraphs of the story. Which means I skimmed most of the book. The author would spend way too much time giving details of the surroundings and the weather. The end of the book, when the final chase is on, several PAGES were spent describing the rain storm. It was raining, got it, move on to the important action.

Overall, I gave this book 3 stars. One, because the premise was good enough to start it. Two, because I finished it. Three, because the story was entertaining enough it just really needed fewer descriptions.

I received this book for free from Library Thing in return for an honest review. ( )
