When they get to the apple orchard, Mr. Tiffin, their teacher, gives them a riddle to solve. Throughout this story, the children are constantly problem solving and trying to figure out the riddle. At the end, Tara solves the riddle. I think this is a great story for young children because sometimes they get frustrated and give up when tasks are too difficult. The persistence and curiosity the children have in this story show students that solving problems is not always easy but through trial and error you can figure it out. ( )
