I just love Mo and Dale and the whole community of Tupelo Landing. It gives me this homey feeling like Avonlea or Hogwarts. I love to be in that world with those characters!

This second book, a sequel to [b:Three Times Lucky|11737313|Three Times Lucky|Sheila Turnage|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1335476936s/11737313.jpg|16686499], puts the Desperado Detectives on the case again. This time they're trying to find a ghost that haunts an old inn and pass 6th grade history at the same time.

Full of perfect Mo-isms and Dale-isms, folksy wisdom, bucket loads of charm, and some truly funny moments! ( )

What a fun mystery for kids! I love Moe, Dale, and all the great characters in Tupelo Landing. ( )

children's fiction. The cast of characters (even the ornery ones) are still endearing and I think I shall always be glad to revisit them, but this didn't have the impact of the first impression that last year's book did. Even so, it stands alone (if it has to--I will tell kids to read them in order).

I'm just a big fan now of Sheila Turnage's writing, and this sequel to Three Times Lucky doesn't disappoint. There's a reason she's on the Newbery list. A great read for kids and highly entertaining for grown-ups who enjoy kid lit. ( )

Mo and Dale are back - this time with ghosts!

The story takes place just weeks after the wild adventures of Three Times Lucky. This time, in an effort to save Tupelo Landing from snobs, Miss Lana and Grandmother Miss Lacy have inadvertently purchased a historic inn. A haunted inn. If they are to have any hope of recovering the money they spent, someone will have to get to the bottom of the ghost situation. Enter the Desperado Detective Agency, the very same duo who solved a murder over the summer. Mo and Dale, with the help of Dale’s dog and a rough-around-the-edges new kid named Harm, devote their school history project to figuring it out.

Solving the ghost mystery may also mean having some questions answered about the folks in town – but will it do any good in rescuing Tupelo Landing and getting Miss Lana and Grandmother Miss Lacy out of hot water?
