A lucky random pick. At last a good new werewolf world. The world building here was stellar. This was a well thought out complex world. There were a lot of different elements suck as only those who were born equally wolf/man being acceptable to the ruling class. All the others those born human who could shift to wolf and those born wolf who couldn't shift to human being either killed or enslaved by the rulers called Guardians. In this world you have to be born a werewolf not changed and there hasn't been a werewolf born in 300 years. So of course the heroine's son throws things into a bit of chaos.

This book starts in the middle of the story. The heroine, Sophie, has been on the run from her werewolf husband, Dyland, for 15 years with their son whom he knows about but has never met. She ran on the night that she was shown that Dylan was a shifter and he told her that he would take her child from her if she ever tried to leave. So she ran.

She has been on the run for 15 years and really I kept getting flashes of Sara Conner. She's turned herself into this super bad ass fighter chick and has brought her son up the same way. She has to return to Dylan though when she realizes that Joshua will be a shifter too and is going to need his father's help.

In addition to great action, and great world building I loved the love story. Because they were reuniting lovers there wasn't an unbelievable insta love element to get over. They had both made mistakes and were willing to try harder and differently this time. Well drawn secondary characters really rounded out the story. I am totally looking forward to the next one. ( )

When they were lovers 16 years ago, the heroine was far too young and naĂŻve to cope with the bond she had with the hero. In turn, the hero was far too driven by his inner wolf to allow her her freedom. In result the heroine fled, pregnant, and went on the run. 16 years later, the heroine's son is beginning to show signs of changing like his father changes and in a bid to save her child she reluctantly agrees to take him back to the people who understand and can help him. But now things are different. The hero and heroine are different people and, knowing what it's like to be without each other, they learn to be more honest with themselves and one another. The hero regrets how his possessiveness and protectiveness drove away his mate and while the heroine was somewhat justified with fleeing all those years ago, she know realizes how wrong she was to deny the hero his child. The heroine recognized that it was more fear of her feelings that made her run and now coming back and seeing him again, she can no longer deny their bond. I loved this story sooo much. The hero was simply perfection. He tells her that he didn't just lose his son when she left and, my god that's true. He's been celibate for 16 years; willingly because he truly loves her. Though he doesn't really know how to express his feelings verbally, he expresses them fantastically through his actions. The heroine, once a timid insecure young girl; has developed into a confidant woman who will stop at nothing to protect her son. I loved this story because it showed understanding and a wiliness to work on ones problems and listen to other people points of view. They married in the woods one night by spoken vows and though circumstance drove them apart, nothing could truly keep them away from each other. Sooo good. I have no idea why this is in the fantasy department of Chapters when this is very clearly a romance novel and a fantastic one at that. ( )

This book first caught my attention while browsing with the Celtic reference. After reading the blurb that it's about wolves, it seemed like my kind of book. When I looked in the back of the glossary, I noticed some Celtic terms and could wait to read about wolves with Celtic ancestry.

Celtic Moon is a fascinating mix of myth, love, adventure, power and alphas living a time that the outside world has seemed to forget. Dylan and Sophie are two strong headed people who learn to let the past go and do what's best for their child.

Dylan has been alive since at least the 10th Century and has had quite the interesting life to say the least. He was born in Wales to a powerful Guardian shape changer mother and a human father, the eldest of three who had to leave Wales for their protection. He had several of his fellow wolves follow him into the new world and settled into modern day Maine near the mountains. There he fiercely guards those under his charge, haunted by events in his past and worried about the future. For the last sixteen years, he's sought for information on the whereabouts of his human mate Sophie and child who disappeared one day while pregnant with their only child after he revealed being a wolf. Then she contacts him out of the blue and he learns that he has a son named Jackson who could have the potential to shift. It is a rarity and no shifter has been born in three hundred years.

Sophie has been on the run from her estranged husband with their son and her Mother. She's no longer the scared, defenseless, innocent woman who ran from Dylan's world and planned to never return. She's learned how to defend herself, as well as Dylan and a part of her is always ready to go on the run. In the last five years she's been living in a cabin with her son and mother while making a living being a personal cook and housekeeper to a gentleman named Matthew who has his own secrets.

When she realizes her son may be more like his dad than she realized, she bites the bullet and contacts Dylan to get some answers. She learns that Jackson may be in danger if he isn't among his kind and though Sophie would rather be anywhere's else, she realizes that what's best for her son may be going back to Dylan's world. She tries to keep her mom from going with them but she refuses to stay behind and Matthew gives her a parting present.

Dylan's world is still just as strange and scary at times as it was when she left but Sophie soon shows Dylan as well as those that treated her badly that she's no longer afraid to stand her ground and not to be messed with especially when it comes to her son. She realizes that Dylan was trying to protect her and puts many in their places, gaining respect by showing that she won't be pushed around. Sophie also realizes that she's never stopped loving him and had been running from her feelings all these years. When she takes the plunge and gives into her passions, Sophie realizes that the place she's avoided, may very well be where she was meant to call home.

Things are not all what they seem, there's danger on the horizon and war is not far off. When Sophie is captured, it will take the strength of unlikely allies, Jackson, Dylan and his comrades to combat the evil forces trying to take down his clan.

Sophie is one of my favorite my favorite characters. She's smart, funny, loves fiercely and quick on her feet. Sophie had the courage to get away from a situation she felt as toxic towards her and her child and didn't look back. She learned how to handle herself, became an awesome loving Mom to Jackson as well as teaching him to be a strong easy going young man and refused to be intimidated. She showed Dylan and his clan that she's stronger than she looks and gained a lot of respect.

Dylan is an interesting character and for sure an alpha male. He lives in an area where his word is law and tries to be just. I loved the fact that Dylan stands up for Sophie once he realizes the ill treatment she had and shows how much he loves Jackson from the moment he spots his son.

I very much enjoyed this book and am looking forward to see what next will happen with these Welsh wolves. ( )

Pregnant and feeling like a prisoner Sophie took the chance and ran from her husband and his pack to protect herself and her son. 15 years later she finds herself running back into her husbands grasp. Dylan has been looking for Sophie since she left. He thinks about her and his child constantly. When she calls him for help he says anything to get her back where she belongs.

Sophie does not return the same person she was when she left. I loved her "Don't f*** with me or my family attitude". She had NO issues sticking up for herself, her mom or Joshua and I loved every second of it. I also loved that she put her child before her own fears. She did not hesitate to rush back into a pack that did anything to make her feel unwelcome and pushed around. As for Dylan he is the definition of alpha male. He is stubborn, bossy, protective and beyond sexy. He did not handle things well in the past and he finds himself making the same mistakes now. He is manipulative and jerky when he could be open and loving and get a better outcome. There is a lot of trial and error on his part and he eventually discovers where his mistakes are when dealing with his wife. Sophie and Dylan have tons of chemistry and I liked how everything revealed itself and played out.

CELTIC MOON was a great start to a promising series. I enjoyed the character development and the rise of conflict that will span the series. DeLima did a great job introducing her characters while also growing them and introducing the storyline and their past. The blending of Celtic mythology and the wolves history blended well and kept me reading. I'm excited to learn more. ( )

I’m not sure if this is a new trend in Paranormal Romance but more and more titles have been featuring “older” heroines and Celtic Moon falls into that category with Sophie, a 36 year old protagonist. Thibodeau doesn’t just stand out because of her age, she also brings to the table something that a lot of female characters lack: experience. You can’t help but admire a woman that’s willing to put her fears aside in order to do right by her child; even if it means confronting the man that she’s been running from for over fifteen years. My respect for her continued to increase with every new page I read because Sophie not only learned from her previous mistakes but actually took steps to ensure that she’d never be a victim again.

Two of my favourite things come together in this book: werewolves and Celtic mythology. Both elements are closely intertwined in this story and I loved how rich the lore was as a result. The author incorporates a few very unique components which helped it stand-out from other comparable titles in this genre. It’s been weeks since I finished reading Celtic Moon and yet, I’m still thinking about the extremely memorable “serpent” weapon. I’d be curious to find out whether its origins stem from historical facts or are the imaginings of a very talented author. Either way, I approve! In my opinion, this first installment is only the tip of the iceberg where the Celtic Wolves are concerned!

DeLima allows readers to make up their own minds about what actually happened fifteen years ago by presenting the facts from three very different perspectives. I really enjoyed weighing each character’s viewpoint and drawing my own conclusions; even though I knew what the end result was going to be, I still appreciated the process. This book has a real story within a story feel to it which makes it as fulfilling as it is entertaining. I also liked that the author didn’t rush the romance and gave the characters time to adjust. There may be danger on the horizon but that’s still no excuse for jumping in bed with your ex!

Celtic Moon is not your average werewolf book thanks the Jan Delima’s distinctive layered writing style, original mythology and unlikely heroine. A brilliant effort by this debut author! ( )
