She may be tough, beautiful, and practically perfect in every way, but saving the world is only easy when you're Wonder Woman. Being a mom, on the other hand? Now, that takes some serious superpowers. A lasso of truth, bulletproof wristbands, and an invisible airplane. Throw in a golden tiara, great hair, and abs made of steel and you've got a gal theoretically capable of saving the planet (and looking fabulous in the process, too, I might add). But moms aren't looking to save the world. Nope. They'd settle for well-behaved kids, a clean home, an occasional nap or two, and maybe an uninterrupted trip to the bathroom every once in a while. They'd trade in the need for perfection--the desire for acceptance--and willingly cast aside those unrealistic expectations they've placed upon themselves in their roles as mothers.Confessions of a Wonder Woman Wannabe provides the modern-day mommy with sanity-saving tips, advice, and hilarious real-life accounts that every supermom can most certainly relate to, benefit from, and appreciate. After all, the reader may not have been born with superhuman strength, but with God on her side, Jesus in her heart, and the Holy Spirit in her corner, she's more than equipped to handle the daily battles that rage before her. ""So hold on tight, girls, as we prepare to tackle this role of motherhood together: the good, the bad, (the slightly ugly), and everything in between."… (meer)

I agree with the previous reviewers. It was one that I skimmed through and actually didn't read fully. I ended up putting it in the faculty lounge at work. It was way too religious for me and for stay-at-home moms. Nothing wrong with that, it's just that it doesn't fit my lifestyle. The biblical quotes were heavy and the blurb in the list to review didn't match what I thought I was getting. ( )

As someone who doesn't have children, I've been looking for good books for when the time does come on advice and tips. I was excited when this book finally did arrive (took some time to get the copy to me). After reading the book I found myself skimming through as it seemed to be more for stay at home moms and more religious-types. While I have nothing against these two things they are not my situation or my type. I did notice a lot of common sense/practical advice which I'm sure being an outside observer that when raising kids it gets lost in the jumble. It is something that I'd pass to my friends who are stay at home moms with religious affiliations. ( )

This is a pretty quick, easy read. Unless, of course, you take the time to implement the tips and strategies given, then it'll take longer to get through. The chapters that apply to me felt very helpful and I'll go back and glean more from them and attempt to put some of the ideas into practice. The ones that didn't apply to me were still easy to read and somewhat interesting.
She does a nice job of trying to connect with the reader in a place where they are and giving support. I do agree, though, with a previous reviewer that the casual tone and stating her negative feelings for many house/mom chores did get tiring, so I skimmed more than with most books because it allowed me to do so.
I plan to share the book with another new mom friend of mine who I think will appreciate it. ( )

I was expecting a funny memoir with how-to thrown in for a good measure but this is more of a book filled with quick tips. The author's casual tone (imagine you are sitting around a kitchen table with a bunch of other moms talking about nothing but mom stuff) has the potential to quickly tire readers.

Sadly, there didn't seem to be a chapter and little mention of working outside of the home moms and barely mentions how to involve a spouse in all of this crafting, coffee, and coupons. In the chapter about cleaning the house the author encourages moms to enlist the help of a "team" meaning the children and "maybe even your spouse as well." Maybe? Maybe? Sorry, I just don't agree with the maybe in that scenario.

The book is also heavy with bible verse so it's definitely for moms and families already active in their church. The ER blurb did mention the author's Christian beliefs but I didn't think it was going to be as prevalent in the book as it ended up being. Perhaps next time I should do a little more research about books with smaller publishers I'm on the fence about requesting.

This book isn't for me but I'll be sure to pass it along to a friend. ( )
