A resourceful DEA agent Kay Hamilton forces Maria Delgado to go undercover to try to entrap a major drug smuggler, Tito Olivera, which is the brother of the Mexican kingpin, Caesar Oliver is the leader of this cartel family. Things start too unravel when Kay's biological daughter that she gave up for adoption shortly after birth shows up at her doorstep and gets abducted by this ruthless cartel family for ransom. Fast moving thriller, keeping you on the edge of your seat till the last page. ( ) This is the start of a highly entertaining thriller series that I think will do really well commercially. Is that a negative comment? Quite the opposite! The book is pure fun! What it reminded me of was watching an episode of Burn Notice. Fast action, plots within plots, fun characters, lots of government agencies. Kay Hamilton works for the DEA and had some spectacular success in Miami. Now in California, she's on the trail of the brother of the biggest drug boss in Mexico. Capturing him is actually the easy part. What comes next is the REAL problem. As her past comes back to haunt her in ways she could never have guessed, plots are put in motion that are just fun to watch unfold. Don't get me wrong. It's not a humorous book. But it is definitely entertaining and fun. Rosarito Beach is set for release in January 2014. I'll be watching for more in this series! I received this through Goodreads FirstReads and this is my honest review of the book. I love this lead character, Kay Hamilton. She's young, beautiful and in law enforcement. But unlike many other female lead characters, she is not soft, fluffy, sentimental, dependent on a male partner or obsessed with romance. She is hard core and will do whatever it takes to get the job done. If you like action and plot twists, this book is a must read (release date 12/31). The ending leaves the door open for more Kay Hamilton and I look forward to reading more. Highly recommend. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
