The lake’s location is known to no one but the boy’s deceased grandfather. When reading the story the theme of greed is prevalent for when the mayor, minister and others force the boy to take them to the lake. The boy then warns the men of the dangers but they don’t listen and say “go away you stupid little shepherd-boy”. The men don’t make it home because they were too busy getting more jewels to be wealthy with and allowed their greed to cloud their judgment. The book uses metallic paper to represent the beauty of the moon stones. The rest of the story is drawn and only the moon stones are given specific attention signifying they are special and mysterious. ( ) geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
