Perfect unison in the pool. Scorching desire in the locker room. It's the opportunity of a lifetime for young Tyler Bourne to compete in Olympic synchronized diving with veteran Aiden Oxford. The last thing Tyler expects is to fall head over heels for his gorgeous partner, and he struggles to keep his attraction under control. Polite but undeniably distant, Aiden keeps him at arm's length, and Tyler feels like a disappointment to Aiden, who'd been favored to win gold with his disgraced former partner. Tyler knows his feelings are hopelessly one-sided and that the podium is likely out of reach. Yet as the Games begin, he learns nothing is certain until the final dive... Synchronicity by Keira Andrews is a gay sports romance featuring an age gap, forced proximity, hot guys in Speedos, shower sex, and of course a happy ending.… (meer)

Synchronicity is a story based on platform diving at the Toronto Olympics. It stars twenty-year-old Tyler Bourne, the new member of the team, and Aiden Oxford, the veteran.

The story is a quick read with likeable characters, although we don’t learn much about Aiden because the story is in first person from Tyler’s pov. The author arranges the plot through alternating present and past events. The first chapter starts with the team’s first dive at the Olympics. From there each dive is interspersed with a past event. Not much is written about the dives because they are short, mostly the plot is about Tyler’s thoughts and experiences the Olympics, and his growing attraction to Aiden. I’m not a fan of stories that keep hopping back and forth from past to present especially when the present is a small fraction of the story, while the rest of the plot is mostly memory based. Eventually time catches up to the last dive and present time.

The only thing that seemed like Tyler and Aiden would work as a couple was the constant longing Tyler had for Aiden. Eventually Aiden expresses how he feels also. It seems like their attraction happened quite quickly especially since they didn’t seem to interact on a personal basis outside of diving and the author doesn't tell us much about who these characters are other than divers. So how could the guys form an attachment? But this is a short, fluffy story so readers have to suspend their beliefs.

Since the Olympics just took place, I was looking for a book on sports and Synchronicity fit the bill. It’s a quick, easy read and I give it 3 Stars.

As part of the formatting team I was lucky enough to get this one. I loved this one. Even though it was short, it had enough to satisfy! ( )

Interesting device juxtaposing the dives and the previous days...it totally worked for me! It was fun watching these boys come together. Also loved, Loved, LOVED that it was set in TO! ( )
