Other than that, I know that my students will thoroughly enjoy this book. I plan on reading excerpts from certain chapters as I lead my third grade library students through their unit on Westward Expansion and their individual research projects on pioneer life. This book is perfect for introducing kids to frontier and pioneer life, and Laura Ingalls Wilder is a person that I believe both boys and girls will easily relate to and make connections with. I loved LIW when I was a little girl - she was my hero, and I wanted to be her. My upper primary students are doing a unit on biographies, and although the Who Was series are a little higher than many of their reading levels, I found this book to be a delightful look at the life and times of a pioneer girl and her family.
